Summary

Time flies. This is my 10th, last article. I would like to make arrangement about what I have done in the past 9 weeks.

Tapping the beats is what a gorilla can do. Thus, interestingly, a rhythm game player is sometimes called a "gorilla".

Beatmania IIDX - You are the DJ of the Gig!

I continue to talk about beatmania IIDX this week. It is a game of long history and remains popular nowadays. It is really a special rhythm game worth discussing and playing.

There are more than 800 songs with all kinds of styles available on arcades! You hardly can't find the songs you like.
"However, the beatmaps are all Greek to me! What should I do? How to practice? Can I play IIDX at home?"

Don't worry! Absolutely, you can play it at home. The official has released "consumer" versions (CS) on PS2. The videos in this blog, except the last one, were recorded on CS. Nevertheless, the latest version of CS is 16th "Empress" released four years ago, while the latest one of arcade is 21th "SPADA".

Caution: You should never confuse CS with LR2. CS is released by Konami itself while LR2 is a simulator developed non-officially. Songs from Bemani series (from Konami) are ILLEGAL in LR2!! Be careful!

Well, let's start my introduction. To begin with, "groove gauge" is a performance indicator. Either clear or failed depends on the groove gauge.

Next, I introduce "Hi-Speed" and "Hidden&Sudden". I emphasize on "Sudden+" since it is more important than Hidden.

Sometimes BPM isn't constant. It may have abrupt or continuous change. Thus, adjusting Hi-Speed may be necessary for some players during gameplay.
BPM doubles in this song, and the player quickly slowed down Hi-Speed. Also notice the red "HARD gauge" and enjoy this HIP HOP song with the feature of scratching. BTW, the only one "POOR" he got is called an "empty POOR", which means you press the keys that are not on beatmaps. This won't break combo, but gauge drains as if you have got a "BAD".

At last, I would like to share my method to practice IIDX. Thank you for visiting.
